Description:

Monitoring the anchorage of the supporting walls

Excavation work was undertaken beneath the Palais du Pharo for the construction of underground car-parks. This structure, built by Louis Napoléon Bonaparte in the heart of Marseille, was located on relatively unstable soil and the client had doubts with regard to the solidity of the foundations. In order to know how stresses are distributed during excavation work, the client wished to use OSMOS technologies to monitor the anchorage of the supporting walls. The data gathered by the OSMOS Optical Strands reassured the client with regard to the behaviour of the supporting wall, enabling it to intervene in the event of abnormal deformations.
